hymn for my planner
reassurance is a gesture at first & soon
becomes choreographed stage combat
between me and your doubts—ask me
if you've harmed me & i will change the subject
with the lightness i practiced a thousand times
in the mirror you broke with your
withering stare—homework is a two-minute concern
until it swallows a text chain & a phone battery
you can do it, you just prefer watching me suffer
which would be a reg flag to anyone else—desire
is a gesture too. a gesture that sweeps through
a thousand requests dreamed up by
either the utterly deranged or you—
you want me to update you on whether
i'm out of the house—even though i share my location
with you—you cannot use your phone—
and i was your beloved once
but now i am your IT department
or your mortal enemy
i haven't decided.
